深入贯彻学习科学发展观，探索科技英语教学新路子

Implementing the Scientific Outlook of Development thoroughly and Exploring Initiatives of English Teaching of Science and Technology

为了进一步深入贯彻学习实践科学发展观，按照“党员教师受教育、科学发展上水平、家长学生得实惠”的总要求，紧紧围绕“准确科学定位，强化办学特色，打造一流独立学院，创建全国知名品牌”的主题，以“教学改革求突破，管理创新谋发展，服务育人争一流，追求卓越创品牌”为载体的陕西科技大学镐京学院科技英语教学改革研讨会于2009年4月1日在阅览室召开。教务处处长郭国法老师主持了本次会议，院长杨建桥、各系部主任以及担任我院科技英语教学工作的所有老师出席了本次会议。

In order to further in-depth study the outlook of scientific development, in accordance with the guidance of "educating the party members, upgrading the level of scientific development and benefiting parents and students," closely cling to the theme of "scientific and accurate positioning, strengthening characteristics to create the best independent institute and creation of the national well-known brand”, the teaching and learning seminar was held in the library on April 1^st, 2009. This seminar bears the carrier of “making a breakthrough of teaching reforms, developing the management, ranking the first class as the institute of serving and nurturing people and making a brand of pursuit of excellence”. Mr. Guo Guofa, the dean of studies, chaired the meeting, with the attending members of President Yang Jianqiao, the deans of departments as well as the teachers of all the teachers of Science & Technology English.

郭处长首先从科技英语的课程设置、学时安排以及四级英语首次通过率等方面对我院目前科技英语教学工作进行了回顾和总结；我院科技英语教学从2005年开始起步，在成功的进行了以邓小平理论、毛泽东思想、法律基础等一批政治理论课的英文化教学改造基础上，积极引进了以计算机基础、物流工程、电子商务、管理信息系统、财务管理等22门课程的国外原版教材，初步构建了科技英语的教学课程体系，让学生充分领略了当今世界最先进的科学文化知识。

First, Mr Guo made opening remarks. He looked back on curriculum and passing rate of CET4 and summed up the development of teaching work of Science & Technology English. Our college first opened the courses in 2005. Based on the English version of political courses such as Deng Xiaoping Theory, Mao Zedong Thought and Foundation of Laws, we introduced the original versions of 22 textbooks in western countries such as the Introduction to Computer, Logistics, Introduction to Economic Commerce and Information Management System, and so on. The curriculum system has been set up and the students have an overall view of the most advanced knowledge in the world.

我院在探索科技英语教学方面取得了令人瞩目的成绩，锻炼出了一批担任科技英语教学的优秀师资队伍，促进了英语教学和专业教学的改革，带动四级英语取得了卓越的成绩，增强了学生的核心竞争力，提升了毕业生的就业质量。同时他也指出了目前在科技英语教学中存在的一些问题，重阅读理解，轻专业知识传授，而且信工类专业开设的科技英语课程较少，与专业相关程度较低，考试模式比较单一。

Our college has made remarkable achievements in training as a group of outstanding English teachers of science and technology teaching, thus promoting the reform of English language teaching and profession teaching. The subsequent results include the 58% passing rate of CET4 which is unique to independent college, enhancing the core competitiveness of students and the quality of employment of graduates. At the same time, he also pointed out a number of problems in the current English teaching of science and technology, such as placing more emphasis on reading ability and less on professional education. Another problem is that the Department of information engineering opened much less courses than those of Department of financial majors. Moreover these courses are less linked with its professional courses. Still, the text system is monotonous

其次，任课教师畅所欲言，就科技英语教学方案的制定、教学方法的改进、教学手段的多样化，交流了自己的教学情况，相互学习，取长补短；同时也指出了在教学过程中发现的一些问题和缺漏，针对如何进一步调动学生学习积极性、克服应试心理等问题，就我院科技英语教学改革进行深入的探讨。

Then, the participants of the meeting expressed themselves in a free way. They exchanged their ideas about teaching programs, teaching methods and their experiences. They aimed to learn from each other’s strong points and close the gaps between each other. At the same time, the teachers also pinpointed some shortcomings found in teaching process and made a thorough analysis on how to improve the enthusiasm of students and overcome the psychological problems of testing themselves.

最后，杨建桥院长就我院科技英语教学改革做了总结。他指出，科技英语课堂仍然要加大阅读量，不能只是老师讲学生听，要让学生积极地参与进去；要继续规范教学方法、教学内容，将教学工作稳打稳扎的向前推进；教学方法可以百花齐放，百家争鸣；考试方式可以在保证翻译的前提下，适当加入其它形式，命题不能有章可循，要灵活多变，促进学生努力学习，防止投机取巧；年轻教师应该敢于多代几门课，拓宽自己的知识面，提高自己的讲课能力。

Finally, President Yang made a closing remark on the reform of English teaching methods of Science and Technology. He stressed that teachers should cultivate an atmosphere of reading in class-not the cramming method of teaching, but the active participation of students. And, we should continue to standardize the teaching methods, teaching content, and move forward the teaching task in a steady way. The college lets a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend. Still, the examination system should contain enough translation with adding the appropriate amount of other forms of questions. The proposition of testing can not be rule-based, flexibility required. We attempt to promote the students to study hard and to prevent opportunism. Young teachers should shoulder the task of teaching courses as many as possible with a view to broaden their horizon and improve their teaching ability.

本次科技英语教学研讨会的召开，为我院科技英语教学工作再上一个新台阶指明了前进的方向，也为我院继续积极推进“走出去”战略提供了必备的保证。在学院领导的正确引领下，在所有科技英语任课教师的共同努力下，我院科技英语教学工作一定会有一个崭新的突破。

This seminar is held with an attempt to step on a new level of the English teaching work Science & Technology. It lays a good foundation for the strategy of “going out” and provides the necessary assurance for it. Under the guidance of the leadership and with all the joint efforts of English teachers, the English teaching work of Science and Technology will make a new breakthrough.
